RED WHITE AND BLUE FIREWORKS
It seems wherever in the USA you are on the 4th of July this year there will be plenty of colour.
Possibly the best place to watch a pyrotechnic display this time around will be the Mount Vernon Estates and Gardens.
As most displays won’t actually get going until in some cases as late as 9:30pm, the good folks of Washington get to witness a stunning “Day Time Display”.
The event starts at 9:30am with a reading of the Declaration of Independence from the First Virginia Regiment on the bowling green.
At 12:00pm the annual red, white & blue concert starts, with 80 of the best musicians from all the states of the US, with all the musicians being retired ex-military bandsmen representing every branch of the US forces.
At 12:45 the patriotic music will reach a climax, and signal a red, white and blue pyrotechnic smoke display will be fired over the Potomac River.
Also George and Martha Washington will be presiding over the festivities with Birthday cake for all and a special Independence Day naturalization ceremony for America’s 100 newest citizens with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.
The following describes one of the most important battles of the war, leading to the independence we know today.
The unofficial meaning of the colours are:
RED for valour and hardiness
WHITE to mean purity and innocence
BLUE for vigilance, perseverance, and justice

New USA World Record Attempt Scheduled
PA. Pyrotechnic Artists will hold a display that is set to be a little different from the norm this year as a specialist group attempt a new world record. The pyro specialist company will be setting off 1800 fireworks during the finale (called salutes) which has never been recorded. Salute fireworks are specifically designed to give a very loud explosion sound like gunfire.
Shells of various sizes will be used varying from 4” to 16” shells. Pyrotechnic Artists is a non-profit organisation founded in 1992 to teach those with a passion for pyro how to use fireworks safety and legally. The idea of the 1800 shell salute comes in their 20the anniversary year.
With around 200 members from Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, Rhode Island and Ohio, around 50 members meet every month to keep appraised of new items.
The event will take place over 2 nights with the record attempt on Saturday 26th May and an open show for pyro artists from throughout the area to display their craft on Sunday 27th May. Both events are free to the general public.
Planning for the event is almost complete with some last minute adjustments and as far as the record is concerned, this will be submitted to Guinness world records and one of the team will be recording the noise levels with a decibel meter.
A spokesman for the group confirmed that the event is fully insured and every safety precaution will be taken on both the evenings of the 26th and 27th May 2012.
The same group will be attempting a further record on August 18th in Johnstown for the highest number of Gold Willows fired in a show.

Southampton To Welcome The Red Arrows With Fireworks
The world famous Red Arrows are to be an extra highlight to the Queens Diamond Jubilee Celebrations this year, with seven of their modified BAE Hawk T1 aircraft’s.
On the 5th of June at what is expected to be the biggest event of its kind outside London, the Cunard Ships Queen Elizabeth, Queen Victoria and the Queen Mary II will take part in a staggering event.
The three Queens (as Cunard like to call them) all of which were named by Her Majesty will sail up the Solent surrounded by a flotilla of small ships and finally arrive to berth in Southampton docks.
The Red Arrows Display starting at 6pm is expected to last around 25 Minutes, and will centre around the Marchwood area of the docks.
After the aerial display the three ships will then leave the dock and make their way down the Solent, as darkness falls this will climax with a massive fireworks display, Mayflower park being the best vantage point for anyone wanting to witness these spectacular events. Good viewing is also available at Hythe Marina and Town Quay, and is expected to be a little quieter.
Please note there will be NO public parking around Mayflower Park, the use of city centre car parks is highly recommended.
